Pope Gregory IX

So I was doing some research... You know... Just kind of kicking around the websites and demanding that they yield their fruit, when I remembered having a discussion on facebook with a friend about the Bubonic Plague. I found this on another page of deep searching.

After Pope Gregory IX associated cats with devil worship, cats throughout Europe were exterminated in droves. This sudden lack of cats led to the spread of disease because infected rats ran free. The most devastating of these diseases, the Bubonic Plague, killed 100 million people.

That's pretty messed up. This guy was super horrible and did a bunch of stupid stuff, but I think for now, I will limit him to this one thing...Which is bad enough. The first "Black Death" spread was around the height of the Eastern Roman Empires, but it was Pope Gregory's dogma that would see 60% of all of Great Britain killed with this horrific disease. Even though the second out break took almost 100 years to come to fruition... Kill all the cats and the bacteria who travel on fleas who travel on rats would infect the humans and there is your problem.

Jerk.
